Dragon Chess is a fantasy based Chess variant. It was originally created by Gary Gygax (Co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, as well as many other table top RPGs) for a fantasy story he had written. Like any good writer, he could not include a game in his story without set rules to follow, so he created an entire game just for that story.
Dragon Chess is similar to it’s origin, Chess, but differs in many areas. There are three boards, they are wider, and there are more pieces. It can get a bit confusing, keeping track of three boards at once, but the additional challenge is well worth it.
This version of Dragon Chess uses all of the same rules and pieces as the original and allows for one player to verse another in a Hot-Seat Match. One player takes a turn, let’s the other player sit down, then they take their turn.

The creator of this chess variant, Gary Gygax, died March 4th, 2008. For this reason, we are dedicating this project, and the resulting game, to him. May he rest in peace, knowing that another of his game ideas will be reaching the masses and entertaining many people.
